Women's Self Defense
What is Safe & Strong?
An aerobics class? - Nope,
A kick boxing class? - Uh uh.
A martial arts class? Not really.
A cooking class? - What?!?
Self defense isn't just about kicks to the groin and elbows to the head, although those work
really well. Defending yourself includes
mental, emotional and physical elements. We deal with all of those issues.
Aerobics and kick boxing are great ways to lose weight
and tone your tush but they don't teach you the moves you need to fight off some jerk who thinks he has the right to take anything
he wants from you - including your life.
Our course has its feet in martial arts but you're not going to learn Karate. These moves
come from all over - anything that works in a defensive situation. You'll learn moves from Shotokan Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Kung Fu, Krav
Maga and plain old fashioned down and dirty street fighting. When it comes to self defense there aren't any set-in-stone rules. If
the move works it's right and sometimes the easiest move works the best.
Exactly what do we mean when we say "not a cooking class"?
Just that - you'll get physical. If you don't learn what it feels like to make contact with a living, breathing human then chances
are good that you won't make good contact against a living, breathing bad guy.
We're definitely HANDS ON!
You use the techniques you learn full force against a "padded assailant" which is just a fancy way of saying an instructor in a padded suit. You're not
just practicing your moves - it's a great way to relieve stress!
